BLCC Singapore had the privilege of attending the Networking Reception on 30 July 2026, commemorating the 60th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan (SJ60).
Bringing together senior business leaders from Singapore and Japanese enterprises, the evening was a celebration of cross-border collaboration, shared insights, and the strategic partnership between the two nations.
The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade & Industry, and His Excellency Hiroshi Ishikawa, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore.
Following the speeches, there was a Kagami Biraki (鏡開き) — the 300-year-old sake barrel breaking ceremony. With wooden mallets, the VIPs cracked open the barrel to symbolize harmony, new beginnings, prosperity, and the sharing of good fortune with all present. A beautiful way to toast to the next 60 years before the guests enjoyed sake with a variety of both Singaporean and Japanese cuisine.
Congratulations to Singapore International Chamber of Commerce International and Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Singapore for the successful organisation of the event.
